Celebrate New Year’s Early with These New Releases From Champagne

Forbes highlighted top non-vintage Champagne offerings to enjoy this season, including Champagne Ayala Brut Majeur and Rosé Majeur, as well as Champagne Bollinger Special Cuvée and Rosé. A few highlights from the reviews are below:

Noting the incredible value of this wine, Ayala Brut Majeur features “aromas of yeast, Anjou pear, apple peel and a hint of cinnamon. Persistent mousse; rich mid-palate, very good acidity, excellent complexity, distinctive yeastiness, notable persistence. This is an excellent NV Brut with layers of fruit and beautiful overall harmony.” Ayala’s Rosé Majeur “has ripe cherry, strawberry and red plum flavors in the palate, very good acidity and a well-balanced finish with good length. Quite appealing, this can be enjoyed tonight or in another 4-5 years.”

Bollinger Special Cuvée is described as “Bright yellow; rich aromas of lemon peel, Bosc pear and quince. Medium-full with a rich mid-palate and impressive ripeness. Good acidity, impressive persistence, very good complexity and a rich finish with a distinct chalkiness. Beautifully made, this is a very notable non-vintage Brut to be enjoyed over the next 3-6 years.” Writer Tom Hyland says that Bollinger Rosé has a lot of charm and is one of his favorite non-vintage rosés, adding that it boasts aromas of red plums, red cherries and a hint of wild strawberry. Medium-full with very good acidity and excellent complexity, this is very flavorful and well-balanced, and has a lengthy, refreshing finish.”
